Meet Lucinda McGarrity – a Melbourne-based Project Manager in commercial construction, content creator, cheese enthusiast, collector of cute things, and self-confessed queen of gift guides. There’s plenty of merit to all of her roles, but the latter has us calling a friend (aka Lucinda) for some last-minute festive inspiration. Read on to learn more about her style, her culture faves and, of course, her gifting recommendations.
Top 3 words to describe your style:
- Considered
- Fun
- Effortless
Top 3 outfit-defining features:
- A boxy tee. Whilst I consider myself to be a very feminine person, I lean towards wearing more masculine silhouettes – I think it’s mostly a physical comfort thing. Typically, I wear t-shirts when I’m on-site, too, so perhaps it’s more habitual than choice?
- A beaded necklace, especially one with a bit of colour. It’s the easiest way to elevate an outfit, turning the most simple into a ‘look’. I’m not really a jewellery stacker, so I love having a couple of ‘statement’ necklaces that I can alternate between.
- Does good hair count? For me, having good hair is half the battle of putting together an outfit. I definitely feel the most ‘me’ when I like how my hair looks. Hair is so personal and can be used as a semi-permanent form of self-expression. For that reason, I’m very strict with my haircare products and wash routine.

Top 3 morning rituals:
I’m actually not really a morning person, so I do find it very hard to instil good routines into my morning. But my non-negotiables are a black coffee and SPF 50+.
I’ve recently been adding morning walks with my best friend/housemate, which has been a nice addition to each day.
Top 3 listens/reads/watches:
- Unreal Unearth – Hozier (this album is criminally underrated)
- I’m ashamedly not a big reader, but this summer I’ll be reading (and cooking from) ‘Happy Hour Snacks’ by Bec Vrana Dickinson.
- Fleabag, always (I rewatch this 3 times a year).

Top 3 gifts for your bestie:
- A good pair of everyday earrings, like the Coralia Hoops.
- My best friend is an SPF queen, and I love the Kakadu Plum Sunscreen Lotion SPF50+ from We Are Feel Good Inc.
- A puzzle from Le Puzz. They have so many vibrant and unexpected designs. A puzzle is also the perfect activity to fill those days between Christmas and New Year's.
Top 3 gifts for the friend with *everything*:
- Spice blends from Gewurzhaus. They are so delicious and are a great way to encourage home cooking.
- Pepe Saya’s ‘Sticky Tin-Tin’ sticky date pudding. Another crowd pleaser.
- Handmade ceramics, specifically bowls. They can be used for so many things like food, storage, or to simply display. I love pieces from small artists such as Mitchell Ceramics – they always feel so special.
Top 3 gifts for yourself <3:
- I’ve just moved into a new place and really need wine glasses, specifically red wine glasses with the thinnest stem possible.
- A fresh summer fragrance. I love the smell of Ellis Brooklyn’s Miami Nectar.
- A hamper of artisanal preserves and snacks. If it’s stored in a jar, I’m probably here for it.
Top 3 self-care strategies:
- Moving my body. Pilates and boxing are my favourites.
- Surrounding myself with people who bring out the best in me.
- Home cooking. I really struggle to slow down, and whilst you won’t find me doing meditation, cooking is the closest thing to it for me.
Top 3 sips and snacks:
Chappy’s Dill Pickle Chips, Sour Straps and a Tommy’s Margarita – the common theme here is something sour.
Top 3 not-so-guilty pleasures:
- Sleeping through my alarms
- Spending too much money at the greengrocers.
- Listening to Gracie Abrams on repeat.
