For design inspiration and dream purchases, we always look to Goodspace. Curated by Stephanie Lane and Holly Thompson, they restore and sell an envious collection of mid-century modern furniture - from Danish sideboards to velvet sofas and curved floor lamps. We're building an inspired home to match our colourful wardrobe.
Did you always have an eye for interiors? How did you hone this and bring Goodspace to life?
Great design and beautiful furniture has always been something that both of us have been interested in. Although, we have to say that styling and working out what looks good has been something we have developed over time. There has absolutely been a lot of trial and error!
When it comes to Goodspace we try to stay true to what we love, it is really important to us that we choose pieces of furniture and style our interiors in a way that feels authentic to us. The key is to never be afraid of trying lots of different things together, and to spend time swapping pieces in and out of a space until we find the right combination of things that work.
Give us a day-in-the-life rundown.
Our day to day life can always be a little crazy! The morning starts with coffee and breakfast at home with the kiddos. Followed by a classic mad dash to get to school drop off on time. Most days it is then off to Pilates or for a quick walk. Always followed by another coffee to gear us up ready for a big day of work.
We spend most of our day shooting, editing content or out on the road sourcing new pieces to pop up on our page.
What is your go-to look for a day at work?
Our work day involves moving mountains of furniture, meeting with clients or suppliers and being in and out of the house. So for us this means comfort, effortless movement and style are all things that are important to us.
Where is your workspace and what does it look like?
Goodspace operates out of our home studio; we are lucky enough to live in a beautiful mid-century home. It has floor to ceiling windows, lots of natural light and stunning exposed timber ceilings which we love!
Are there any specific Instagram profiles you look to for inspiration?
Our faves for inspiration are The Design Files, Home Union, Flack Studio.
And where do you look for a bit of business insight or encouragement?
We are so fortunate to be in an incredible business community in Melbourne. We are surrounded by so many amazing people running their own brands or businesses. We are forever drawing encouragement from watching and talking with other people doing their own thing!
What are the interior trends worth buying into and the must-have pieces at the moment?
Statement rugs, beautiful artworks, and a good sofa!
What are your dreams for Goodspace?
We hope to be able to continue what we are doing by re-homing vintage pieces. We would also love to collaborate with more designers and businesses with styling as well as creating some of our own pieces. Watch this space!
